KILBEHENNY
ON THE ROAD TO ANGLESBORO
A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE CEMETERY
Since 1973 I've been poring over the graves in the Kilbehenny cemetery.
In the rain, the sleet and sometimes the sun, I've searched for those
ancestors. I wonder if they ever imagined a descendant
from Australia would be enduring the Galtee elements in search of
a name and a date?
Although there are two Cleary graves in Kilbehenny Cemetery, I've
not found the grave of my great great grandparents Michael Cleary
and Mary Martin, or that of his second wife, Mary Leary.
The parish of Kilbeheny (Kilbehenny), which is also known as Kilbenny,
lies 4 miles E.N.E. of Mitchelstown, Co. Cork adjoining the border
with county Limerick.
 |
| Thanks to the Rev Wallace Clare we know a lot more about this beautiful little cemetery with the rapidly fading stones. |
