YANDOIT, with its sandstone Italian style houses, and grapevines,
reflects the influence of the Swiss Italians on the region. The
octogenarian, Vince Gervasoni, a crusty descendant of northern Italian
immigrants, farmed these paddocks until he died in 2005.

Vince died on Sunday 14 August 2005, at his home in Yandoit, Central Victoria. In the late 70s I began taking students from Sunshine West High School to Yandoit, where Vince would entertain us with great stories and tours through his cellar and the old house. He was a grand fellow, who'll be missed.
